Welcome!

As Tiger Math Teachers, we are committed to helping every MLKJ scholar succeed and shine. Our mission is to nurture a growth mindset that inspires students to say, “I can!” with confidence. Together, we’ll take on the challenge of mastering the California Common Core Standards while also strengthening any areas where students need extra support. As Tiger Math teachers, we embrace this challenge with excitement and passion—because we believe in the potential of every scholar we teach. This year, we can’t wait to grow, achieve, and celebrate success together!

Each grade level teaches standards in the following domains:
  • number system
  • expressions and equations
  • functions
  • geometry
  • statistics

Homework:
Homework is one of the most important tools for your child’s success in math. Every completed assignment reinforces classroom learning, strengthens understanding, and prepares them for the next step. When homework is missed, it creates gaps that make progress much more difficult. By encouraging and supporting consistent homework habits at home, you give your child the best chance to grow in confidence and excel in math.

MLKJ Math Department Goals:
  • Further prepare our scholars to be college and career ready both academically and socially.
  • Create a classroom environment that allows scholars to own their education and process information the way they do in the real world. Our scholars will be able to apply what they’re learning.
  • Build self-confidence in our scholars through academic achievement.
  • Provide additional support for our scholars each week through Mastery Center and other interventions.

Thank you. We hope to make this our most successful year ever!!!
